Busy Day Soaping

Thought I would share with you all my big soaping day since I kinda went AWOL for a while....
I got going on soaping today considering I have a small town show to sell at the end of April.  I looked at my inventory and thought it might make sense to make a few batches.
I ended up making Rosemary Mint, Sandalwood Vanilla, Oatmeal and lastly, Goatsmilk Oatmeal.

I started out chopping up some baby mint leaves that I had just harvested from my garden a few seconds before.

I added to the pile some corsely grinded rosemary that I took out my aggression on in the mortel & pestle...

I melted my oils in my big soap pot and added the lye mixture to it and started to stir...

As soon as it came to a medium trace, I added the mint and ground rosemary to the pot, and also added in the rosemary and peppermint essential oils.  I love this part, it smells sooooooo good....

Here it is all nicely poured into the mold.  This particular mold holds 6 pounds of soap which makes 21 wonderfully grand bars.  They are about 5-6 ounces each.

Although I didn't get beginning pictures of the next soaps, I did manage to get two of the Sandalwood Vanilla soaps in the mold.  By the time I got to the next batch, the light was going away and my list of to do's for the day was not getting any smaller, but the time surely was.

I will take some pictures of them tomorrow when I unmold them and when I cut them.  I love seeing other soapers' pictures of their soaps and how they are made, I hope you love seeing my soap pictures.

Becca

Ohhhh, weekend! You are Finally Here!

Thank goodness it's Friday night!  I am so glad this week is done!  My husband left for business Monday morning for China and Korea, and has left me with the kids and laundry for the week.  He comes home Monday night, so that means the weekend is going to be LAZY!  Can't wait to be in my jammies all day, no dress clothes or shoes!

Alright, enough is enough...

Soap tonight?  Yes please!

Cherry Almond

This soap is one of my best sellers, by far! It has a strong cherry almond scent that is appealing to both men and women. It reminds me of a certain lotion that I believe most people will recognize right away. When people pick up this bar of soap, almost all say, "Ooooh, this is nice!"

I know I say this about all of my soaps, but this one is one of my favorite soaps.  It has always been in my line of products, and will continue to be a classic soap.  I have customers that stock up on this one at shows so they can have this all year.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Jammies, here I come!!!

Super Fresh

Good evening!  I hope your week is going by quickly, and you're ready to start the weekend!  I sure am!  This week at work has been long and stressful so far, and I for one am looking forward for this weekend!
I have tomorrow off, though, and hopefully (fingers crossed! :) am going to be creative in my kitchen in both food and soaping.  I found a recipe for slow cooker chicken chili that I am making for dinner, and as far as soaps are concerned... I have no idea, maybe some suggestions?????

Today's featured soap is picked because it is almost hot here in WI today.  We had a mild winter thus far, but temps in the mid 70's are hot compared to the normal.  When I think of this soap, it reminds me of summer because I grow the rosemary and mint that go into this soap in my garden.  I love going out there just minutes before I make the soap to pick them, knowing how wonderful it is to have really fresh ingredients.  That is really important to me.  I hope you agree, too.

Rosemary Mint

This is a truly refreshing bar of soap! You will really wake up when you use this bar in the shower every morning. You might even become a morning person! I used freshly chopped peppermint and rosemary from my garden, grown with no chemicals or pesticides.

Rosemary Essential oil is great for treating such problems such as acne, dandruff, dermatitis, eczema, headaches, memory loss, mental fatigue, migraine, muscle aches and pains, sinus problems, slow circulation and sore muscles. Peppermint essential oil is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti fungal, antimicrobial, antiseptic, and astringent.

One of my all time favorite soaps, I think.
Remember, shoot me some suggestions on soap ideas, please???

See you tomorrow!

XOXO,
Becca

Happy Monday!

Welcome back!  I am back from skiing this weekend at Granite Peak in upper WI, am sore, and barely made it out of bed this morning for work.
My son conquered his fear of skiing in general, and my daughter conquered hers of the lift.  The new skis were broken in, and a fun time was had by all!
Amazing how much the knees age, though, I guess I'm not 16 anymore......

Toady's soap is....

Eucalyptus and Peppermint

Eucalyptus oil is antibacterial, anti fungal, and antimicrobial, all great qualities for skin care. Peppermint essential oil is great for stress relief, gives a cooling effect, can nourish dull skin, and help with oily skin.

I made this soap with it's essential oil blend because of the very nature of peppermint and eucalyptus; very refreshing and uplifting.  Who couldn't use that at 6:00 in the morning??  I really need it, I am so not a morning person!

Till next time...

Becca

Two in a row!!

Hey all!  I'm back on time and on schedule!

Today's soap is:

Sandalwood Vanilla

This is a wonderful, sexy smelling soap that will be a treat every time you use it.
This is one of my most popular selling soaps, and you will find out why when you smell it!

Scented with sandalwood and vanilla fragrance oil, this is great for both men and women alike.  It's funny to see people at craft shows, the women pick up the bar because it stands out being red.  The push it into their husbands faces, say, "Smell this!"   The men, I haven't found one who doesn't say, "Wow, I love that!"  This is really one of my favorites!

I will be off this weekend skiing with the family, so I won't return until Monday night.
Wishing all of you a very nice and enjoyable weekend!

XOXOXO,
Becca

Whoa, what happened??

Whoa, I must have really lost it to not post for so long between having a sinus infection one week, then having to work 6 straight days in a row the next week, catching up with life took most of this week.

I have a surprise for all of you though...

Visit my etsy site www.watsonsoaps.etsy.com and use the words springforward you will receive 20% off your total order!!  This coupon applies only to my blog readers and is only available till Friday March 16th.  Take advantage of it, you can stock up on some really great soaps!
And while we are talking about great soaps, let me talk about a few of them since I have neglected you for too long....

First up:

Green Tea with Lemongrass

My husband goes to China on business several times a year. He visited a woman who owned a shop that had been selling green tea for hundreds of years. The tea leaves are whole and blossom when steeped in the hot water. They serve it in little cups with no handles. It is the best green tea I have ever tasted. He brought back a pound of this green tea for us to enjoy drinking. Little does he know that I took some to put into soap.....?

I brewed it up very strong, and then added it to the soap which gives it its nice, earthy color. I added some shredded lemongrass and lemongrass essential oil. Lemongrass essential oil is known for its antibacterial, anti fungal and antiseptic qualities. Green tea is naturally rich in antioxidants-which help protect the body from free radicals, the bad skin aging particles in your body. I can't say that this soap will take 10 years off your appearance, but you'll have to try it and let me know!

Next up....

Patchouli

Scented with pure patchouli essential oil, this soap is wonderfully seductive and sultry. Great in the shower, it won't leave a heavy lingering scent on you afterwards. One of my best sellers for sure!! Patchouli essential oil has anti-fungal benefits and helps treat eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis. It is also known to diminish over time scars left on the skin from chicken pox and acne.

I have converted anti-patchouli people with this soap, some who completely hated patchouli before, have really grown to love this one.  I believe it is from the quality of patchouli essential oil, not some cheap patchouli fragrance oil knock off.  The real thing just smells so warm and mellow, makes me just melt when smelling it.  And guess what, I was one of those anti-patchouli people...LOL!!!

And lastly,
Patchouli Sweet Orange

I don't know if there is a better scent combo than sweet orange and patchouli. It is just so yummy. You have to smell it for yourself. I combined sweet orange and patchouli essential oils and swirled in a bit if cocoa for the brown swirly bits. So maybe it is all three scents all mixed up into one heavenly bar of soap.

Patchouli essential oil has anti-fungal benefits and helps treat eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis. It is also known to diminish over time scars left on the skin from chicken pox and acne.  Sweet orange essential oil is known for maintaining healthy, smooth skin by clearing acne and dermatitis, and is great for detoxifying your skin.

I hope you have enjoyed this showcase of some of my soaps and come back again soon to see more!
Don't forget about visiting my Etsy site for some great deals on some great soaps!!  Oh, and if you want more than one kind, please convo me to request a reserved listing so you can get more!
